The Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) is a savings scheme launched by the Government of India as a part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign. This scheme aims to promote the welfare of the girl child and encourage parents to build a corpus for their daughter's education and marriage expenses. Benefits
- High-Interest Rates: SSY offers one of the highest interest rates among small savings schemes in India. As of now, the interest rate is 8.0% per annum, compounded annually.
- Flexibility in Deposits: A minimum deposit of ₹250 is required per financial year, and the maximum deposit limit is ₹1.5 lakh per financial year.
- Long-Term Savings:The account matures after 21 years from the date of opening or upon the marriage of the girl after she turns 18.
- Transferable: The SSY account can be transferred anywhere in India, in case the account holder moves to a different city.
